Visakhapatnam: Education Minister Nara Lokesh has underscored the significance of leadership changes within the Telugu Desam party and stressed “no individual should occupy a position for more than three terms.”
Lokesh stated, “It is inappropriate for me to serve as TD’s national general secretary this time. It is essential for the party to create leaders from the grassroots level up to the political bureau. Party elders will make decisions in this regard.” Lokesh’s comments came in the backdrop of a move to eventually make him the chief minister or deputy CM.
The minister spoke of the lessons he gained from the ‘Yuvagalam padayatra,’ which he claimed was more valuable than an MBA from Stanford University. “In politics, the padayatra is equivalent to an MBA. The insights I garnered from the Yuvagalam padayatra have fostered a deeper connection with the populace and enabled me to address their concerns directly.”
“Our government is committed to fulfilling every promise made during the Yuvagalam Padayatra. I aim to maintain an ongoing engagement with the community even after the completion of the padayatra,” he said.
Lokesh attended a defamation case against Sakshi Newspaper at the Visakhapatnam 12th additional district court, where the proceedings were adjourned until February 28.
In a recent press conference, Lokesh challenged Gudivada Amarnath Reddy to publicly disclose the investments he secured from Davos during his ministerial tenure. “Our government had attracted investments of `6,33,568 crore within seven months,” he claimed.
The minister said critical infrastructure facilities have been established for TCS in Visakhapatnam, with subsidy releases anticipated soon, followed by land allocations. “TCS would establish a temporary presence in Visakhapatnam within the next 90 days, while the construction of a new facility might take two to three years.”
“Over the next five years, we aim to create employment opportunities for 5 lakh individuals in Visakhapatnam through resort to information technology,” the minister who also handles the IT department said.
Lokesh targeted former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, by saying, “Jagan Reddy’s apparent lack of trust in his own family raises significant concerns regarding the level of trust that party leaders can place in him.” He said leaders and officials involved in illicit activities will not evade accountability, as “comprehensive investigations are under way.”
He also referred to land encroachments in Visakhapatnam, saying the irregularities under the previous administration were so vast that, a thorough investigation would require massive police resources.
